“It was on a Friday afternoon that I phoned LegalX’s helpline in dire need of their assistance. The call was made from a jail cell where I was held after being wrongfully arrested for supposedly failing to pay maintenance. The fact is that the maintenance had indeed been paid, but nobody had informed the SAPS that the warrant had been revoked. Despite my numerous explanations to the SAPS that payment had been made, my pleas were ignored. I was certain that I would have to spend a distressing and completely unnecessary weekend in jail. She was tracked down at a social function and was persuaded to cooperate. An instruction was then given via her to the SAPS to immediately have me released from jail.
